So, I made it. We (me,bike, Liz the lizard) pedaled 1840 miles. This is me dipping the front tire into the York River. The Chesapeake Bay is around the bend, and the Atlantic Ocean is around the next bend. It feels good.
This is my bike parked next to the Yorktown Victory Monument. It does a pretty good job of showing how big the monument is. I am staying in a church hostel here for a couple of nights to chill out before I take the bike in to the bike shop to be shipped back to Casper. It is a great place to stay.
Both of these photo's are taken from the front yard of the hostel. Kind of sweet. I had a crab cake for lunch. It was really good, although a bit on the expensive side. This is a tourist destination for sure. So thanks for all of your support. I loved reading the comments on the blog. It was a great adventure, and I learned a lot about our country and the great people in it. Til next time.

  1. I'm big on crab cakes.Nearly as big as the Vandeventer Victory Monument. Way to go. Now I wish I had bet on you making it all the way. Also don't worry about the van...the guy at the body shop said some strong solvent, a little buffing and maybe some flame decals should hide the damage. You probably know a good place in Casper. And It's not like you can't ride your bike until the van is repaired. Let's plan on talking between now and Monday.

  3. Congratulations Alan. Very impressive. My wall map of the United States has push pins all over it showing your three (3) routes. I have enjoyed following your travels. Enjoy. We'll see you back in Casper. Get some rest.
