I included two photo's today. One is a typical road photo of what it looks like a good deal of the time- kind of like a tree cathedral. The other is a typical view when the road opens up.
Back to yesterday. It seems like I quite often leave out the best part of a day and then remember it after I finish a post. Yesterday I stopped in a grocery store to find some lunch. I was soaking wet and leaking all over everything in the store. Suddenly, a guy behind the meat counter engages me in conversation. The next thing I know he is handing me a huge chunk of ham, while enthusiastically letting me know that it is the best ham ever - not as salty as typical ham. After letting him know that I thought it was great, he then hands me another huge hunk wrapped in a cheese that he said complimented the ham to perfection. Before you know it he is making me a sandwich. And not too long after that I am eating lunch in the workers break room. It was quite the welcome.
Today we had the dreaded duo - hills and headwind. I haven't had all that much headwind, so I deserve to get some once in a while. Road kill report - raccoon, rabbit, and rodent (mouse). I had to get those "r's" in.
Live wildlife report - our buddy, the turtle, and the biggest heron I have ever seen. I was riding along a creek bottom, and the heron took off. Beautiful, huge heron in flight. Today I am in Harrodsburg. Til next time.

I get a little claustrophobic back there after all this open space in the West...
